The cocker spaniel is slightly smaller than the English
springer but is a tireless worker none-the-less. One of the
oldest gundog breeds, the cocker can be fairly headstrong and
is not usually recommended as a first gundog for the novice
trainer. It does, however, have many enthusiasts who work
their spaniels very effectively.
